Saturday November 1st

The comic:

Holy fuck he's going to kill himself and since he can't leave a good looking corpse, his possessions will have to do.

Also, way to be up to date on that there pop culture Charles Pille!

Tuesday October 7th

The comic:

That is one convoluted piece of nonsense.

I like the way he's looking at that mug. That's not a half-lidded resigned look of an old man who bounced between jobs all his life because they keep closing, that's the wide-eyed look of a guy who's bounced between jobs all his life because he keeps destroying the places and feasting on his coworkers.

Thursday August 28th

The comic:

That's not right.

I know there are worse Plugger things, but as someone who wears glasses, this hits my head.

I've put my sister's oversized sunglasses over my regular pair, and that works.

But having a second prescription pair over the bottom? Oh, ow.

I know glasses aren't cheap, but damn, abusing your eyes will cost more in the long run.

I've tried on bifocals before, and they're worse than my mom's prescription. (We're both near-sighted.)

I wonder if those are both cheap reading glasses from the Wal-Mart? Or if the bottom pair is her first pair of glasses from middle school.

Hey, you wonder why you get headaches, Esther? It's not angels pounding icepicks into your head for reading Beetle Bailey. They're doing it because you're killing your eyes.

Friday June 20th

The comic:

Wait. This is all wrong. Sure, Pluggers are old.

But a new cell phone?

A cell phone that small?

LEARNING?!

You're a Plugger if you do this while griping about the prevalence of cell phones and how they've changed the world, but insisting your kids have those on at all times and call hourly.

On that note, my mom used to say things like that, but hey, she wants us to call her, so she stopped. I saw an e-mail about how great a childhood my mom's generation had, and how horrible the current one is. I hate those - they seem so accusatory, and they're blaming us. We didn't do it! But one mentioned the great inventions and changes the generation made, while whining about how the world had changed. Plugger central, except it was an e-mail.

Tuesday May 20th

The comic:

Wait.

What?!

Pluggers go to college now?

But...

But...

But...

I guess there have been hints, like this one. It could be interpreted to mean that Pluggers write.

But still. A Plugger? With a post-high school degree?

Or it took 4 years to get a 2 year degree, which can be good or bad.

Good - she's a moron.

Bad - life got in the way in the form of kids, sick family, or illness. Or if this was a guy - the draft.

(I meant good or bad for me.)

As of right now, I have no outstanding college-related debts. I got money for being smart, and money for being poor. I always thought Pluggers were in my financial class, but apparently they aren't. They're probably where many Americans are when it comes to paying for college - too rich for financial aid and too poor to afford it without massive debt.

I'm too lazy to research '70s tuition or student loan regulations, but thirty years sounds extreme.

I know it takes a long time to pay them off, but thirty years? How much interest is that? And she couldn't get a well-paying job?

I just don't get this.

Maybe she went to Harvard.

Saturday the 19th

When I do this at midnight, I'm usually watching something like Malcolm in the Middle or Psych. Few comics can stand up to those two, especially this one:

My eyes, her eyes!

Little pluggers never mature mentally, though they do physically, as we see today, where the little plugger's 13 year old brother reads a book to her.

Touching.

And creepy as hell.

As usual.

Psych is on!

Monday the 31st

The comic:

Number one in the countdown!

We made it!

AND THIS IS NUMBER ONE? What the fuckity fuck is going on here?

I've heard of spouses looking like each other after decades of marriage, pets and owners looking alike, but PLUGGERS AND GNOMES????

Tony Kinsel, you are messed up.

Unless this is meant to be surreal, a joke on Brookins. If that's the case - great!

Great for Kinsel, but not for Brookins. Unless he's fucking with people.

GNOMES DO NOT LOOK LIKE HUMANS!

OR PLUGGERS!

Yes, fat and beard.

But hello, he's ceramic! You're not!

He's evil! You're not! (Well, not gnome-evil.)

That Plugger needs to get a dog or a wife or a cat or a fish.

Seriously - he spends his retirement standing next to a gnome, convinced it will kill him?

And this has run before?

*head explodes*

See ya in '08!

Sunday the 16th

I'm watching a show about the Black Plague on the History Channel.

Would Pluggers ban gambling in an attempt to stop the spread? Or would they kill the Jews? I doubt they'd be kicking the prostitutes out of town.

I can't wait to make some connection between the plague and today's comic. Besides the fact that they'd be dead - they'd never wear anything as newfangled as a flea collar.

Ha! Not since August 27th has my life imitated this 'art'. Today's comic was made and sent in before I knew about this show. However, the first one was more of art imitating life (mine and every other students), since it was at the end of August - right around the start of the school year.

But still - today is weird! If I hadn't fallen asleep while watching the 7pm showing, I wouldn't be watching it when today's comic came online.

Spoooooooooooooooooky.

Onto the comic -

That's not germ warfare! Germ warfare is offensive, a band-aid is defensive! I suppose the term could be used to describe a band-aid or latex gloves. I don't know - is the band-aid attacking germs? Doesn't it just try to keep them out?

Whether or not germ warfare is offensive or defensive, this is just weird.

"Germ warfare"? Really? This is supposed to be a plugged-up common phrase, one with a different definition than what is in the elitist, white-collar dictionary.

Are they saying that non-Pluggers engage in real germ warfare? Or do we take bigger precautions before we get injured or sick? What?

Of course, the warfare could refer (and probably does) to the fight over the band-aid design.

If so, way to blow something meaningless out of proportion, Kirby Sides of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida!

So the fight is over whether or not the Plugger will get a shot or have blood drawn. I don't recall ever being bribed with a band-aid, though I can see how it might work - if you're EIGHT!

The weird cherry on top - That Plugger is old, at least older than the nurse! And he has to be bribed to ...what? Sit still?

Not to mention the wrongness of giving a shot to or taking blood from a dog's front leg.

Wednesday the 12th

I am posting this on my laptop.

Nothing new, except I'm doing it at home!

I am not a computer expert at all, but I got myself connected to the internet!

My sister and I are IMing each other. I'm sitting on the couch, she's using the desktop computer. We're silly.

Pluggers is never silly.

I won't get into the potential sexual meanings, because EW!!!!!!

More like, Pluggers need shrinks but think they're all quacks.

The little Plugger looks like the male, which makes me think the woman withholding dessert is his wicked stepmom.

But is there another definition of withholding besides denying something good until you meet the demands?

No Plugger element but the ick.

Saturday the 1st

I'm watching Home Improvement right now.

Yeah, it makes the comic look even worse.

Oh make it stop.

I've never had a toothbrush fit in the little hole thing, and I've never cared.

Right now, my brush and paste are in an Opus mug.

Ah, Bloom County. Good talking animals.

Pluggers - wha huh? Who?

November 17th

Today's comic:

So what - the rest of us are hedonistic spendthrifts?

I hate Pluggers.

Oh my god, 80% of America is poor and/or lived through the Depression. Bush was right! Social Security will bankrupt us!

Now for the illustration - Ben Franklin's proverbs in your American History book? No, no, no. In a book on Franklin, YES. There's more to the revolution and Franklin's role in it than his proverbs!

And I thought those were only in the Bible...

Pluggers are deists!!!

November 10th

As I said in September.

Hey - it was only 8 days. I'm sure you suffered.

Today's comic:

My physical reaction: left hand on top of head, holding it, saying, "I... wha? what?"

Ron Milton, this is the most unique Pluggers I have ever seen.

You win.

Eyebrows? Do guys really worry about them?

I know Becky likes to pluck them, but I don't.

Barbers cut eyebrow hair now?

My head hurts.

I'm going to watch Malcolm in the Middle now.

I'm scared.

Monday the 15th

I was at home that day, and the home computer is so big and slow, I avoided it at all costs - besides, I can use my laptop on the couch, I can't use a PC there.

The comic -

Oh, I did look at this on Tuesday or Wednesday. It hurt my brain.

Pluggers don't even have pennies, because the medication allowing them to continue their horrible existences as some divine punishment costs too much!

What political insight you have, Mister Richard Silvis of Auburn Hills, Michigan.

Or this is yet another "pluggers are old" and was sent in with the knowledge that it would be published.

And yet, this doesn't make a lick of sense.

Yes, a full pillbox rattles - I know this well - but who puts pillboxes or pill bottles or even the little foil/plastic thing in their pockets?

I was a sick little teenager, and I take a few daily meds to keep everything um, alive, and I've never done this! I have a weekly thing, and since I have to take things 3 times a day, there are separate day parts, and I pop out that day's if I'll be gone long enough to need it.

And at school, I stick it in my purse. Before I carried a purse, I stuck it in my mom's! (This summer.)

I know men aren't supposed to carry purses or anything, but I can't imagine carrying your medication in your pocket - maybe an inhaler, but pills? Er...

Desert lovin' in your eyes all the way...

If I listened to your lies would you say...

That today's Pluggers is one of the most disturbing ones ever - all by itself?

Yes, of course.

There's not much more to say, is there?

I hope Jim Driver made this up, because this is sick.

I'm not a cat expert or a cat person, but I think it's not good for kids to play in the litter box. Just a hunch.

I know pregnant women aren't supposed to handle cat poop, but that's about it.

The parents of this Plugger need to be hauled into ACS for being too damn lazy to either train the cat to go in a f!cking litter box or too damn crazy not to care.

Monday, September 10, 2007

Time to catch up.

August 28th - What makes this awesome - the look on the driver's face. "Why didn't I just use MapQuest?"

August 29th
- This would be awesome if the fridge needed cleaning out because all the food was bad. Actually, I'm sure it is. Who cleans out a fridge by removing all the food - good or bad? Isn't the point of refrigeration so we can have safe leftovers?

August 30th - 1 - Did vehicles ever have record players? (I know, cars can have speaker systems worth more than the car itself, but I've only heard of woofers in old, old MADs.)

2 - Those dogs are stupider than their owner. They know enough to not jump out when it's moving, but not enough to lay down where they'll be safe.

August 31st -
But pluggers are old! Old people golf! Therefore, Pluggers golf!

Though one can still golf and never get a hole in one...

And who calls the hole in a donut a "hole in one"?

September 1st
-
I don't get this one.

I know what I'm supposed to get - Pluggers are fat, ha ha.

But I don't understand what the hell is the significance of feeling belt loops?

September 2nd
-
Pluggers are smarter than we thought - they remember something learned in school - like the word inertia!

September 3rd -

Pluggers may be emotionally or electrically unstable, but boy howdy, are they muddy!

And mud is awesome.

September 4th -

Only guys are dumb enough to shave and put alcohol on the naked skin right away. Ha!

Also - a dog? Bad, bad, bad animal choice! I don't even want to think about how this could be possible. (It can't be.)

September 5th -
I will continue to like that song. However, I have to wonder. Pluggers are middle America, blue collar folk. Sure, they're broke, but aren't they more mechanically inclined than non-Pluggers?

September 6th -
Hey - Pluggers are fat! Though it's not right to use a rhino to illustrate this one - have you ever seen a skinny rhino?

September 7th -
I don't know what to say about this. Pluggers are animals, right? And in this one, they're dogs! And what about the fact that most 'favorite movie stars' are favorites because of looks (Johnny Depp, anyone?)?

Ew.

This is worse than cannibalism, somehow.

September 8th -
Just on the walls of his room!

September 9th -
I thought you saved money when you stopped smoking - money that could be spent fixing your truck, perhaps.

September 10th
-

Reed Hoover is an awesome name, but it's also familiar - have we seen Reed before?

I really like the forever stamps concept, but I thought investments made you money when you sold them - and you can't (can you?) sell stamps.

College is going great, by the way.

I'll try not to let 2 weeks pass by next time.

But I make no promises.

Not getting on the computer

does not make this vanish.

I wish it were so. This is a lesson I should keep in mind when school starts on the 27th, isn't it?

This is so much easier.

Yesterday's mess - and I did look at it yesterday, while the sun was up.

I do not do this!

I meet new people, we start comparing war stories, sometimes it comes up! It happens.

Actually, I'm not that fond of making new friends in general. I feel I made friends at frosh camp, but not like want to hang out friends, more like a friendly face when I need it... I like to be alone.

Would explain the whole computer thing...

As for the Pluggers, these are adults, they need help.

I have a scar at the base of my neck and it does not look like a worm!

Top that.

Today's.

Hehe, that would be awesome if it was twisted in a horrible way. I think I could do it with paint, nothing special.

We taught my cousin to say she wanted to be on the Jerry Springer show when she was 3, along with indoctrinating her against Agent Doggett ("Ugly Doggy" indeed).

The Pluggers? Gag me with a fork.

Way to pander to your base, Brookins! Why is the kid calling his grandfather papa? Where's his daddy, huh? Granddads are Pop-Pop, not papa.

Or so I've heard.

I should do all of these at 1 in the morning when I should be sleeping, they're not funnier, but I think I am.

My 100th post!

My 101st will be posted from my birthday present - my laptop!

As for the centennial, I felt there was too much pressure yesterday, plus the comic kind of... what's the word... sucked. Probably. If I even looked at it.

Oh well, let's go to yesterday, the day I got... a laptop! (Birthday's not until Saturday, there's still time!)

You know, there were hearing aids in the days before batteries, so you don't have to abandon your Luddite ways to still listen as you age.

Unless they can't afford even the old tin horn thing...

The best part about this - I thought she was knitting at first, but she's holding a calendar that has no pictures above the months. And she has nothing better to do than write down chores for her retiree husband! They both need help.

And today's.

What the hell does that mean?

There are no Plugger pilots?

Most people never 'file a flight plan' while flying kites, most people (especially me) have no idea what a flight plan is!

So this was sent in by a former pilot who's an old fart now and flies kites and uses aviation related words while spending time with his grandchildren?

Pluggers are messed up. Senior Pluggers are f!cked up.

Saturday, August 4, 2007

I got up too early.

Or today's comic is even crazier than usual.

Wha?

Is an 'attitude adjustment' a crazy elitist liberal thing, and real Pluggers don't bother with thinking about their moods and feelings until they've killed themselves because their depression spiraled out of control?

These people have problems. And since caffeine is in fact a drug, the irritability you see in steady drinkers before their morning cup can be withdrawal symptoms.

I haven't touched a caffeinated drink in years, and I can be wide awake in the morning, whether I want to be up or not. A bit slow, but if I've got things I need to do, I'm up.

Friday, August 3, 2007

Magazines have coupons?

In Pluggerville, they do. At least for the purpose of today's comic.
Guys read magazines too!

And what magazines has coupons? Most have contests, yes, that have deadlines, but that's all I can think of. Of course, I only subscribe to MAD, so maybe the boring magazines with recipes and old people things have coupons. But I doubt it. I've flipped through many magazines in my life and never seen coupons!

The newspaper, now.

And how do you get that behind on your magazines? Unless it's National Geographic (no coupons that I'm aware of), they don't take long to read!

This Plugger had a subscription to magazines before she knew how to read, so other Pluggers wouldn't figure out that she was illiterate. (Not a functioning one, though.)
