Thursday July 9th

The comic:

Sometimes Pluggerisms get so particular, and other times they're too broad.

This is one of those times. That first part of the sentence clinched it. Also, why is it always the dad who has an emptied wallet? That used to bug me about the Jetsons - if it's the future, why isn't Jane working? If you're a married parent, your wallet is empty no matter what your gender. Especially these days. Way to stick to the sexist cliches, Brookins.

Thursday March 12th

The comic:

I've got nothing.

He's stupid, but this is incredibly depressing.

Wednesday, March 4, 2009

Wednesday March 4th

The comic:

Pluggers are broke and stupid.

Like the switched gender and the use of charge. How old is this tripe?

Monday February 16th

The comic:

So no one would do any acts of chivalry if they weren't broke.

Also, what if his passenger isn't his wife, or even a woman? (Like his mom?)

Does he get out after saying, "The lock's busted," or does he leave them in there to succumb to the elements?

And what if his wife is driving? Does she become the chivalrous one then?

Pluggers are dingbats.

Thursday January 15th

The comic:

Isn't your car often towed because it's parked in the wrong place, and warrants more trouble than a mere ticket?

Though his just broke down, clearly, and rather than interact with the tow truck driver, Mr. Plugger will risk his life. There's a reason we never see this. There is, right?

Tuesday January 13th

The comic:

I remember this, I really do.

I'm just not detailed enough to put 'retired' in the tags, choosing the more common 'old'.

Well, we had that gas prices one where the prices were eerily accurate (if it was written a month ago, I guess), and now, the economy!

Except Pluggers have always been broke.

All I can think (not that I'm in dire financial straits right now due to my financial aid and scholarship refund for this semester, but I always worry about my mom), is you're worried about tires and puns, fucker? And you can afford them next month?

Friday January 9th

The comic:

So this means Pluggers are sane and normal at other times?

Nice to see RhinoMan with a car. Hope he can keep it street legal.

Friday November 14th

The comic:

He has a folder! And coupons! Good for RhinoMan! He's doing so well I can't be mean.

Saturday October 25th

The comic:

Pluggers have never gone on a second date.

Monday, October 20, 2008

Monday October 20th

The comic:

Where did the kid get the money in the first place? He doesn't look old enough for a real job, but this is Pluggerville, so he probably earned his money shucking corn or something rural, in Massachusetts.

His dad is an idiot. What can ten dollars do? Pluggers must live in an America where ten dollars gets you something important, vital... though ten bucks would buy enough ramen to last until payday... hmm...

Saturday October 18th

The comic:

I thought this was a guy - you know, a professional the kind us non-Pluggers hire to paint less than a square foot of our wall - at first, but dude, is that a chest? And earrings? And Brookins female template?

I just finished Boys Don't Cry. Talk about a snapshot of a Pluggerville - no, not the characters, the town. Rural Nebraska. Nebraska.

Except this one is from Minnesota. Oh, every state has rural redneck areas that seem as dead-end as a town in rural Nebraska.

What is there to say about the comic itself? Whatevs, to quote my sister who was a total bitch but I wasn't miss sweet 'n' nice myself, so I still love her. Like she reads this.

Thursday October 16th

The comic:

Sorry it's late. College has a way of pulling you apart, and if you feel sick or tired, well, good luck.

I did get online today (funny story - I came back from my first class and slept for 7 hours! Ah, youth.) but didn't want to touch this. I don't you know, like Pluggers.

But I should have! RhinoMan, back in dire straits. Poor guy.

But according to some annoying commercials a while back, cash is bad, so it's a good thing he has no cash. Where's the plastic, RhinoMan?

Tuesday October 7th

The comic:

That is one convoluted piece of nonsense.

I like the way he's looking at that mug. That's not a half-lidded resigned look of an old man who bounced between jobs all his life because they keep closing, that's the wide-eyed look of a guy who's bounced between jobs all his life because he keeps destroying the places and feasting on his coworkers.

Monday October 6th

The comic:

I want him to start mauling somebody.

Please?

Saturday, September 6, 2008

Saturday September 6th

The comic:

Pluggers wait for things to return to them.

Watches, pets, cars, children.

Of course Pluggers wear watches. My sister's wearing one now because cell phones are banned in school, and well, how else do you tell time?

That young Plugger has a lot to learn - does he not know how broke all the adults are?

Wednesday, August 6, 2008

Wednesday August 6

The comic:

This hurts my head.

Why would a Plugger need to calculate their net worth? Is he preparing his will?

So are Pluggers more honest than non-Pluggers, since that would never occur to me. Especially since I use my gift cards. Like a normal person.

Or so broke that the gift cards make up a good percentage of their net worth?

Tuesday the 23rd

Yeah, no excuse.

Here's the comic -

RHINOMAN!!!!!!!!!

And he's broke!

This could be Brookins's racism shining through - Rhinos are from Africa, RhinoMan's always broke.

Or he can't draw people. Doesn't he also draw Shoe?

I know little about cars, but I do know about car insurance.

From commercials, but still!

That car looks pretty banged up - doesn't your insurance go up after an accident? Especially on Pluggerville insurance?

Tuesday, July 10, 2007

The Plugger pictured is not the subject of today's comic.

It's true - while nobody in Pluggerville is in any way wealthy, today's comic is supposed to star the Rhino.

This poverty thing is getting just as tiresome as the age thing.

However, that's a stupid idea, leaving your car unlocked all the time. I don't care how much the car itself is worth, there are times when you leave important things in your car!

However, this is similar to what my parents (and many people they knew) did in the early '90s in Italy. They left the doors unlocked because glass for the windshield cost more than the radio inside. Maybe it was because of the first war in Iraq, maybe not.

Another repeated comic!

Remember the controversy earlier this morning about 2 practically identical comics running in less than a week?

Of course you do, you're smart.

Well, I found another set. One from April 18th, the other from June 19th.

Themes are repeated, that's to be expected, that's the point of a series of books, movies, a tv show!, but the caption is practically identical in both! At least with the other ones, the bags were used to hold different things in different places.

Can you plagairize yourself? No, these are submitted by readers, so does that mean that the one that comes in later was stolen? And if they're so similar, why not blame "lots of Pluggers everywhere"?

The drawings are different, of course - different species, even. But the first one is the Rhino, and we know he's depressed and broke. But the other creature? I didn't think so.

Is anyone in Pluggerville in the black?

And I'm sorry, one takes place at a secondhand dealership and the other one is just a random gas station. And one is about an old car, while the other is a beat up old truck. I thought guys loved their vehicles and took care of them, like Hank Hill, they poured the emotions they've been conditioned not to express (love) into things like the truck or the yard.

That's a stupid stereotype of course, but Pluggers are stupid stereotypes.

Maybe the truck guy can't get his fixed or buy a new or used one in better shape because he keeps wrecking, and I'm sure your auto insurance rates for the insolvent members of Pluggerville were high to begin with, I can't imagine what they're like after whatever caused all that.

I've got to give him credit for waiting 62 days! What restraint.

More poverty.

This comic is depressing.

And I've never seen that happen -usually, the people aren't there, and even though you're not supposed to... we still drop stuff off.
