The comic:
Wow.
Oh wait, I just remembered last summer (or was it the summer before?) when the government offered coupons for the converter box so you could continue to get your network channels in peace.
Before that, I was in awe that they bothered with the converter box.
Plugger question - why does his TV still work but his car is falling apart? TVs are harder to fix and harder to understand. Though maybe they were simpler back then, what do I know about Philcos?
And despite being a disrespectful teenager (I'm 21) I do appreciate a B&W movie or TV show. Andy Griffith in black and white means Barney is still there - in color, he's gone. And I saw a colored version of Mughal-e-Azam that was hideously colored. The director died and he wanted it colored and you can see the scenes he colored (the colors look natural) vs the ones attacked with highlighters.
Futurama's on! And it's new!!!
ETA: I know how to hook up the DVD player, the Wii, and my computer (provided the TV has a VGA port) and a bit about the cable (in the dorm, the cord goes on the wall, and then on my TV! Magic! That does not mean I am a TV expert, just like the fact that I can type without looking and use the internet easily does not mean I am a computer expert. (Though with our old one, I was able to add extra RAM so I could update the Sims (the original, spluh!) - I could take apart the computer casing and do that. But that's about it.)

The comic:

I'm surprised they get reception in there.
I don't have much to say - I do this with my mom all the time.
I'm quite surprised Pluggers do this, it's a bit 21st century for them, isn't it?
But "mainly," so they don't use it for other things, like calling a tow truck when their car dies or making their children touch base by phone. (We no longer have a landline, so everything is done on the cell phone.)
So since they "mainly" use their phones as walkie talkies while shopping, they're better than the rest of us.
And of course, they're at a Sam's Club/Costco type store. Those stores were fun - so many samples! But now you need a membership to get in the door! Eff that.

The comic:

The Plugger knows how to surf the web? Duuuuuuuuude, freak me out! Or they call their grandkids and ask them to do it, which is no fun. (Click there, where I'm pointing! God, I'll do it myself!)
Pluggers are hypochondriacs. Pluggers have the money and knowledge to use the internet and the money to go to a doctor.
Wow.
Pluggers are elite!
I have chronic pain and I have had other illnesses since I was 13. (Thyroid. It's now out, and I have to take medication everyday or die.) I refuse to look medical stuff up online. If I have a concern, I talk to a professional either over the phone or in the office/pharmacy. The internet can be helpful if you're not prone to hypochondria or are relatively healthy, but when it's ongoing, eff that nonsense. Besides, according to WebMD, I should be dead!

The comic:

Change is scary.
Also, isn't that expensive? I know it's more expensive to replace something every year, but when it's 54 years old, I think the parts cost more than a new one.

Not running away from technology (or towards it with torches).
Preparing for the future.

Wait, they have internet?
Also, if I remember correctly, someone's about to get kicked off the internet! So they're still stupid.

The comic:

Pluggers don't have cell phones.
Pluggers don't have cell phones with cameras.
If they do, they certainly don't know how to use them!
Let's just break some Plugger laws, why don't we! Tomorrow, "you know you're a Plugger when you're so skinny, people think you're anorexic!" "Pluggers are SO young..."
What's happening to the world?
At least we still know Pluggers are country folk. I wonder if he has any coverage out there, or just uses it as a camera.

The comic:

I think this is a classic we've seen before, but don't expect me to look it up now.
Expect me to look it up in 20 minutes when I still haven't started my paper.
I can only see the bottom of the image, and damn her feet are weird. Like really weird. Has there ever been a barefoot Plugger? And shouldn't she be in heels?

The comic:

Wait. This is all wrong. Sure, Pluggers are old.
But a new cell phone?
A cell phone that small?
LEARNING?!
You're a Plugger if you do this while griping about the prevalence of cell phones and how they've changed the world, but insisting your kids have those on at all times and call hourly.
On that note, my mom used to say things like that, but hey, she wants us to call her, so she stopped. I saw an e-mail about how great a childhood my mom's generation had, and how horrible the current one is. I hate those - they seem so accusatory, and they're blaming us. We didn't do it! But one mentioned the great inventions and changes the generation made, while whining about how the world had changed. Plugger central, except it was an e-mail.

The comic:

Oh God.
So a Plugger's wikipedia is their own knowledge.
But that's not wikipedia. Wikipedia can be edited, changed, updated, debated, changed.
People like the Plugger pictured today never change their mind and don't want to learn new things.
This is just stupid, stupid, stupid! All four of them arguing about something happening might make more sense, but one idiot saying something? That's a blog.

Monday the 14th
2 classes down, one to go!
And good god, it is HOT in every building. 76 in my room, and the window's been open since Saturday evening!
The comic:

Then why is there an official Pluggers website?
Why would a Plugger need a typewriter - they're only good for writing, you can't play games on them or go online.
I like old typewriters, they're fun, but give me a computer any day. I'd hate to write papers on a non-electric typewriter, good god, every draft must be retyped, over and over again.
Mallard Fillmore is plugger. He is probably the first duck.
What gets me about anti-technology people is that they're so damn smug - I'm not entering the 21st century, no way!
We're not jealous of you, we'd pity you if we had any sympathy.

The comic:

This is really odd.
A Plugger embracing technology? Oh, me head.
The passenger should be the Plugger, the saintly Luddite.
The only phone I use at school is my cell phone - I brought my room phone, but it never worked. My first roommate had a landline, but now it's just the cell phones. It's very confusing, because the university hasn't quite caught up - we get Safety Alerts over our cells, but still have to give our room phone numbers to use the computer lab.

Thursday the 6th
"Study day"
"Free day"
Bliss.
The far from blissful comic:

Okay, I can handle the technophobic play on 'memory' - kind of. (Or is it a horrid attempt at a joke about Alzheimer's or senility?)
But sticky notes on the dashboard? Do senior Pluggers live in their cars now? Sticky notes can go on your desk, on the front door ("You're going to English today!"), on the fridge, on the counter - but on the dashboard?
And wouldn't the memory be limited by the size of the dash?
If Pluggers can't remember things unless they're written down (how do they remember how to read?), then the sticky notes in the car must have driving instructions. ("Do not put key in any bodily orifices.")
Sad.
Not that there's much to remember as a senior in Kansas.
Stupid late night addition - the majority of post-its aren't even on the dashboard! They're on the effin' visor! We have a small calendar there and whatever doctor appointment is coming up (with backups on the home calendars!).
Still.
Stupid.
Not stupid: classic Whitney Houston. Even with the hair.
